In the 1930’s, our community, called Standing Rock Creek, TN, consisted of twenty-five or thirty families living in very modest farm houses scattered along a nine-mile stretch of country road which followed the shallow, clear, and rocky creek. The community of Standing Rock was named for the large rock which stood by the road near the head of the creek. Homes had been built on whichever side of the creek had a few acres of flat land for farming. Continue reading
